Hi there. I'm Ruth. I call myself a writer because I write things. I write about things I like to do, like my travel books. I write Celtic historic fantasy novels because they're fun. In another life I was a teacher and a national park ranger. I owned a ski shop. I led outdoor adventures. Now I'm a writer. I don't watch TV. I seldom read newspapers. I write. Well... I do go out to lunch and shop. I drink wine, too. With peanuts. But between times, I write.
Check out my other website, RuthsRecipes.com. On it I not only write recipes, I write about cooking and my friends. Some day I may write a cookbook. |
I have published three types of books, historic fantasy novels, travel books, and an humorous autobiography. They are all shown below. Click on "READ SAMPLE CHAPTERS HERE" to read selections from each book. Every one of these books can be ordered from your neighborhood book store, as well as online. |

We lived in a van and a tiny house trailer for four months while we wended our way from Florida to Alaska, all over Alaska, and back to Florida. It was a great adventure! Pick up the book and join us for the trip!

These two books are the beginning of a series of travel books. They are not only personal travelogues, but I took care to provide details of destinations so that each book can also be used as a travel guide when planning a trip. They are inexpensive and not very thick, easy to slip into a purse or pack. Or, if you're taking your Kindle, just download them. |
Kildonan Chronicles is a series of three historic fantasy books. Two are published, I am working on the third. Though Clovenstone was the first book I wote for the series, each book is a stand-alone tale and the books need not be read in succession. The setting is Kildonan, an ancient Celtic-type culture, when witches and wizards roamed the land. The tales are full of magicks, battles, kings, and flying cats, to entertain and amuse you. |
In 1966 my husband, Bob, and I decided to build a house together on a lake in Michigan. We had no idea how to build a house, so we hired a fellow who did know; and the three of us built a big two and a half-story house. Bob and I lived in a tiny cabin next to the building site with two kids, a cat, a dog, and visiting frogs, snakes, and turtles. It was funny; it was fun; it was an adventure. Share it with me in Dogs, Frogs, and Two-by-Fours.
